Care worker

As a care worker you will be responsible for assisting adult clients with all aspects of their day to day living, including personal care, (undressing, washing/bathing, applying body creams, dressing, grooming, using the toilet), preparing meals/drinks and feeding, administering medicines, changing/emptying catheter bags, social and physical activities, mobility and meal times.

You will be a companion to vulnerable adults, in their homes and/or outside to take part in outdoor activities.

You will be working with service users in their own homes or in the community. At times you will be required to do sleep in or waking nights.

You will be working with different people including older people, adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, substance misuse issues and mental health conditions.

What the role involves:

  • Helping with personal care such as support with showering and dressing
  • Assisting and supporting with toilet needs, changing pads
  • Supporting people with social and physical activities
  • Booking and going with people to appointments
  • Preparing meals for service user
  • Supporting people with eating and drinking
  • Monitoring individuals’ conditions by taking their temperature, pulse, respiration and weight, and possibly helping with medication
